M.

she has oceans in her eyes that wash up on the shore of her skin
and strands of golden hair carressed by the summer sun
her mind is a storage container
filled with confusions and misconceptions
lines jumbled
incoherent echoes of advice given to a girl with an empty heart
and feelings she lost in the wind
her age is young
but her soul is old
she devours life, holds it in the palm of her hand
she dreams of pretty things
and thinks of pretty dreams

My First Time At Vans Warped Tour

On Friday, July 17th I went to Warped Tour for the first time. I dont think I've seen so many tattoos / band shirts / different hair colours in the same place. It was raining most of the day, so girls' bright hair colours were washing out of their hair and running onto their skin, which was a pretty funny sight to see.

There were so many bands there, but I only went for 3 acts: Pvris, Bebe Rexha & The Amity Affliction... so a lot of the time I was people watching, or hearing new bands for the first time!

Bebe Rexha was the first act I saw of the day, and I was happy with how small the crowd was, cause I got decently close to the stage. If I wanted to I probably could've pushed through and been right infront. She sang some of her new songs (I Cant Stop Drinking About You, Im Gonna Show You Crazy, etc) and a couple that she was featured on (Hey Mama, Take Me Home). She was really good live, the crowd was singing along and her voice is amazing.

I became obsessed with Pvris last summer after I found them while I was scrolling through Instagram and found a picture from their account where I found out they were a band, so I decided to check them out. Anyone that knows me knows, that my favourite type of music is pop. Pretty much anything that is on the radio... and Taylor Swift is my favourite singer. Pvris brought this heavier, alternative style pop into my life that opened up my mind to music I was never into before.

After I had listened to & memorized every song on their album White Noise and told pretty much everyone I knew about them, I looked at their tour dates and was quite disappointed to find out that they werent coming to Canada at the moment. It wasnt until a few months later that my friend called me and told me that Pvris was going to be performing at Warped, and I pretty much almost cried. I am super passionate about live performances and try to go to as many concerts as possible, so seeing my now favourite band in person when I didnt think I would atleast for a few years until they became more popular, was a dream come true.

It was raining pretty much all morning and afternoon, so it rained during their set. Maybe this was just me being ignorant, or not wanting to believe that they were sort of popular, but I just assumed that since no one I knew, knew who Pvris was, that they werent that popular so I thought I would definitly be able to snag a close spot. Wellllllll that was not the case. I was actually kind of upset about how packed their crowd was, like I found myself feeling somewhere stuck between wanting them to be successful because they deserve it, and wanting no one to know them so that I could just keep them for myself... that type of thing. It was spouring rain but like a dummy I had my iPhone out taking pics/videos.

Seeing them live was surreal. Lets just say I got choked up cause of how happy I was. A few hours later, they had a meet and greet. It stopped raining so it wasnt so bad, but my friends left me to go watch a band play, so I stood in line for an hour and a half, people watching, listening to the group of peoples conversation who were standing in front of me, and trying to resist snapping at the chicks behind me who were standing so close to me the whole time I could hear them breathing in my ear.

By the time I got about 5 people away, we were told that we couldnt take pictures, just get stuff signed. It was a very rushed scenario, and as it was about to be my turn, I suddenly was super aware that I was alone. Everything is kind of easier when you're with friends, not so much pressure just on you individually. Meeting celebrities is kind of a once in a lifetime thing, so you have to have that crap figured out. I ended up hugging them all, asking them to sign my picture of Alex I bought from their merch stand (there wasnt any group shots/I didnt come prepared as you can tell/I love Sam San Roman's photography so I decided to buy the print) So I was like here, sign my picture of ... Alex... and they laughed. Brian was like "I'm going to draw myself next to him" and drew a stick figure, and then Lynn put a thought bubble next to it saying "I Love Alex". Lynn handed me back the picture and was like "Sorry we kind of ruined your photo" and I nervously said "No it's not ruined at all!". Then I said to Lynn that meeting them was "honestly a dream come true"and then she just kind of nodded and smiled... it was super awkward. I said thanks after getting my signed stuff back and walked away, happy but also weirded out / kind of disappointed in a way? cause I guess I expected it to go differently, but I had no idea what to say to them, and they have no idea who I am so what are they supposed to say to me? I am just another fan. Anyways, despite how awkward and rushed it was...... it was still amazinggggg.

The Amity Affliction is actually one of the heaviest bands I listen to, even though they aren't that heavy. I was never into music with screaming in it until my boyfriend showed me the song Pittsburg. They were supposed to play at 5:30... and at around 4pm my friends and I went to their merch tent to check out their stuff, when I saw a sign that said that their new playing time was at 3:40... We ended up running to their stage and managed to catch their last song, Don't Lean On Me... lets just say that song was the hardest we jumped around to. I am super sad that I missed 95% of their set, but I am lucky I atleast got to see one song.

There was lots of vendors there, I spent a little bit too much money at the Stheart, Vans, and Pvris tents, but got some really cool shirts and sweaters. The pizza was literally 5 dollars, which is obviously expected but super annoying. I was exhausted by 6:30pm and really wanted to leave but my friends had a few more acts that they wanted to see, so we ended up leaving at around 8:30pm. It was a long day, tiring, my legs killed, but overall a fantastic day that I am going to remember for a very long time.

He Has A Way

When my eyes fall over him
My heart falls even harder
When I look at him I see all of the sunrises and sunsets he has seen through his sea blue eyes
Each time I smile I know he is the reason
Running through my mind like it`s his own marathon and he`s always in first place
He has a way of pushing my invisible buttons
His fingerprints always left behind, marking his territory
He gets a thrill out of fueling my internal fire
Red hot, burning with a hate and a passion all at once only he could cause
He has a way of slipping into my bloodstream whenever he wants to
Even when I don’t want him to
Even when I try to close myself up
His tortured eyes look back at me and whisper that they want to be loved
And I try to give all of myself to him
But there will always be a part of me that I will hold back
Because I cant let go of the thought of giving all of myself to him could end in leaving me empty
And alone

Imagination

http://naturalwealthjournal.com/2011/11/12/imagination-beats-willpower-every-time/

she paints her thoughts into pictures in her mind
beautiful
colourful
full of life
soon enough they get swept away by the wind
her grip never as strong as she lets it on to be
she lets the thought of them torment her
eat her alive
to the point that she forgets they were only ever
just painted pictures

Music Mondays

I am the type of person that has like 40 different Youtube playlists, because, as Im sure we all do, I become obsessed with certain songs and only want to listen to them over and over and over again untill I literally end up hating them. Why do we do this, who knows.

These are the songs I`m currently obsessed with :)

Tori Kelly - Nobody Love

I first heard Tori when she audtioned for American Idol when she was 16. She didn`t make it until the end, but continued to post YouTube videos of herself. Then I saw her again on Vine, where I believe she became more widely recognized. She finally has the fame she deserves, she is so naturally talented. I could listen to her sing all day.

Fifth Harmony - Worth It ft. Kid Ink

So Fifth Harmony makes this list twice because, come on, who doesnt love an empowering girl group full of hot and talented singers? I guarentee these two hits will be stuck in your head.

Fifth Harmony - BO$$

Ryn Weaver - Octahate

I personally am not really a fan of this music video, but her voice is magical and the beat is catchy!

Rihanna - Bitch Better Have My Money

This one is pretty obvious what it`s about... and it also has the power to make any white girl feel like a G. But doesn`t Rihanna always do that? There is no music video for it, but I really hope there will be cause I know RiRi will definitely kill it... like always.

Major Lazer & DJ Snake - Lean On (feat. MØ)

I personally have never heard of any of these artists before. I believe I came across this song on YouTubes ''recommended'' section, and fell in love with the catchy beat that you can`t help but move to.

David Guetta - Hey Mama (Official Video) ft Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha & Afrojack

At first when I heard this song, I thought the chorus was being sung by Rihanna, but it is actually the talented Bebe Rexha. You may not know her by name, but she actually co-wrote Eminem`s song ''The Monster'' and was featered on the song ''Take Me Home'' by Cash Cash. And I'm sure you are all familiar with David Guetta and Nicki Minaj!

Echosmith - Bright

I have had this song stuck in my head for days. It is very taylor-swift-speak-now-era. Honestly, talking about it won`t even do it any justice, so just give it a listen!

Taylor Swift - Bad Blood Music Video Review!

Okay so if you are a Swiftie like me and have been seeing all of the cast photos on Taylors Instagram account and waiting oh-so patiently for this video to come out but it felt like FOREVER, you were probably very excited to finally see it yesterday.

Personally, I had no idea what to expect. Before it came out, I was sort of confused at the large amount of cast members, wondering how it was going to be played out and whatnot.

I'll tell you this - when I watched it, I had a huge grin on my face for two reasons.

One, because it was so cool seeing all of these female stars (who are mostly all friends) act like badass super gals, and I seriously wish I was in this video myself.

Two, because I am honestly so happy for Taylor that this video is featuring all of her friends which must have been a blast to make, but also because Kendrick Lamar, Ellen Pompeo and Mariska Hargitay were all in this video because she lovesss them! If you are unfamiliar with who they are, Kendrick Lamar is Tay's favorite rapper, Ellen Pompeo plays surgeon Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy, and Mariska Hargitay plays Sergeant Olivia Benson on Law and Order: SVU. Long story short, Kendrick makes her dance like a white girl at awards shows and Taylor named both of her cats after Ellen and Mariska's characters on the hit TV shows.

The one thing though that I definitely didn't anticipate was Kendrick being featured on the track! When I saw that he was going to be in the video I just figured it was exactly that, he would just be in the video. Maybe that was just me who thought that.

Now, anyone who is anyone knows that this song is obv about Katy Perry. If you didn't know that, I will let you know why. Keep in mind, I am only a canadian blog writer and photographer, so I only know what I have read on Perez Hilton, but word on the street over the last few years is that Katy Perry and T-Swift have been fueding because Katy tried to hire a bunch of dancers out from under Taylor which could have sabotaged a whole arena tour. Another obvious reason is because Katy dated John Mayer after Taylor did, when she thought they were friends. (...is Hoe's before Bro's still a thing?)

There are also a bunch of clues within the Bad Blood video that hint that it is, in fact, about the Princess of Lollypops and Sunshine... AKA just-another-Hollywood-sellout. The biggest one being that in the intro, Arsyn, played by Selena Gomez, is on Taylors side then stabs her in the back by pushing her out of the window, all while wearing a Katy-Perry-style black wig. Check out the list of reasons the video is definitely about Katy here.

Row By Row

I don't want to fall for another blue eyed disaster
I keep telling my heart no
I feel its rhythm getting faster
With each passing glance my stomach drops once more
My dignity is on the floor
It's too late to save myself
There was nothing I could do to stop it
Feet swept out from under me
Trembling hands in coat pockets
Blurred vision and bruised values
So I sit
Waiting
Anticipating
Waiting for you to do what you’re good at
Making me crumble apart
Pushing me further into the ground
I find myself building up my wall brick by brick
Silently
Trying not to make a sound
Waiting for you to do what you’re good at
Repeatedly breaking my heart
Stop the ticking clock
I’m back inside
Locked
Surprising emotions fill me with fear
Trying to remember if he was ever really here
Just behind my belly button flowers grow
Black, purple and blue
Row by row
